Tortoise Creek Chardonnay-Viognier 2005

Lee tried this one for his birthday dinner and loved it. I'll leave the more elaborate description to him, but I can certainly say it was tasty--a bit richer than the Windy Ridge I drank. A nice wine for a light autumn dinner. It's also a terrific value.

I really liked the rich, fully body of this one. It had some citrus notes, but it was really the depth of flavor that won me over. I had it with grilled salmon and shrimp served with roasted red potatoes and french-cut green beans.

Windy Ridge Chardonnay 2005

I tried this wine at Winberie's in Oak Park when we went to celebrate Lee's birthday the other night. I ordered a glass of it again, same place, last night. I'm now convinced that it's worth seeking out.

The flavor is delicate, but it held up to both foods which which I tried it: chicken with a rich mushroom sauce, and seared tuna nicoise salad.

Highly recommended.
